Let the Wheat and Weeds Grow Together – Day 14

Day 14
Matthew 13:24-30

step One - Observe

Can you find the sheep burning the weeds? Did you notice that the sheep set aside the wheat?

Sheep separating the weeds and burning them

Can you find the goat that did not sort his weeds and wheat?

Goat who has not separated the wheat from the weeds

What do you think the pictures are trying to teach you about the Kingdom of God?

Step Two - Learn

Matthew 13:24-30

Click Here to read Matthew 13:47-51.

  • What one word or idea stood out to you and why?
  • What do you think Jesus is teaching about the Kingdom of God/Heaven?
  • Can you remember from last lesson what makes a good fish and a bad fish?
  • How do you know the difference between wheat and weeds?
  • Why do you think God is going to wait until the end to separate people who love Jesus from people who don’t love Jesus?

The wheat represent people who love Jesus and believe who He is. The weeds represent people who do not. Wheat and weeds look a little different so it is possible to tell them apart. But it is not the same with people. Our outward appearance does not reveal what we believe about Jesus.

Believers in Jesus come in all shapes and sizes. We have different skin tones and speak a lot of different languages. It can be confusing when some people say they love Jesus, but they actually do not. You might meet someone and think they don’t know Jesus because of how they look, but they might actually love Him a great deal. As humans, we are not capable of separating people like wheat and weeds. Only God can. And in His great wisdom, He is waiting until a later time that He chooses to separate the wheat from the weeds.

Step Three - Pray

Read Matthew 13:47-51 again:

How are you different after reading these verses?

Prayer:

Dear Jesus, help me to believe in your great wisdom. To believe that you know what You are doing and that you will do what is right in the end. Help me to not judge if people love You and help me to love everyone well. Amen!
