Do not look back – Day 18

Day 18
Luke 9:61-62

Step One - Observe

Can you find the sheep who is plowing with an ox?

Sheep not looking back from his plow

Can you find the goat that is looking back from his plow?

Goat who is looking back from his plow

What do you think the pictures are trying to teach you about the Kingdom of God?

Step Two - Learn

Luke 9:61-62

Click Here to read Luke 9:61-62.

  • What one word or idea stood out to you and why?
  • What do you think Jesus is teaching about the Kingdom of God/Heaven?
  • The fastest people in the world can run 100 yards in under 10 seconds. How fast do you think you could run it?
  • How fast would you run 100 yards if you had to turn and look backward over your shoulder while you ran? Would that slow you down?
  • What do think running while looking backward has to do with today’s lesson?
  • Why do you think Jesus is not good to look back at your home, your duties or family? Isn’t family a good thing?

In the last lesson, Day 17, we learned that money is different in the Kingdom of Heaven. Family is different in the Kingdom of Heaven, too. You get more sisters and brothers. Jesus said that anyone who does also the will of the Father is your brother or sister (Matthew 12:50). You have a lot of brothers and sisters in Jesus if you are doing what he asks you to.

What is important is that you do not let your family, whoever they are, to distract you from advancing the Kingdom of God.

Step Three - Pray

Read Luke 9:61-62 again:

How are you different after reading these verses?

Prayer:

Dear Father in heaven, help me to always view You as my first and best Father. Help me to honor and respect my parents/guardians and my brothers and sisters but also to seek first your Kingdom and your righteousness. You and your Kingdom are the most important to me. Amen!
